The New Philharmonic of New Jersey will present a series of four concerts at the beautiful new Dolan Performing Arts Center on the campus of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station. We also perform an annual Gala Concert to sold-out houses for First Night Morris, and will once again bring our popular pops concert to Our Lady of the Magnificat Church in Kinnelon.

Familiar classical repertory and unusual works, such as Homage to Shakespeare with voices, actors and narrator; Beethoven’s music for Egmont with voice and narration, and a production of Mozart’s opera, The Impresario. Distinguished guest artists have also included Peter Serkin, Leon Fleisher, Shlomo Mintz, Joseph Kalichstein, Lilian Killir, Pamela Frank, Kenneth Cooper, Ani Kavafian, Claude Frank, Robert White, and Richard Goode.

To foster a strong arts community, Leon Hyman presents New Jersey dance and choral groups as guest soloists. These have included the New Jersey Ballet, Newark Boys Chorus, Princeton Ballet, Pro Arte Chorale, the Garden State and Penny Jones & Company Puppets, Harmonium Choral Society, Trebles of St Peter’s, and Morris Choral Society.

Our music education program, Sounds Like Fun!, was created by Karen Pinoci nearly twenty years ago. This program presents a series of four teaching concerts to children and teaches them through instruction and exciting interactive entertainment.

Our Seniors program, funded by a grant from the Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement, allows us to take traveling concerts to nursing and assisted living facilities throughout the area, entertaining people who cannot come to our regular performances. This grant also allows us to distribute a limited number of concert tickets to low income individuals over the age of 60.

Audience Relationship

Conductor Leon Hyman seeks to create “classical music with a personal touch” by sharing his insights into music history, style and the life of the composer before each concert selection. After concerts, the audience is invited for refreshments with the artists. Concerts are conveniently located in accessible facilities and are reasonably priced.
